On September 3, 2012, my husband of 27 years had an aneurism and went into a comma. He died without regaining consciousness on September 24, 2012. I was lost, confused and felt that a vital part of me was gone. Weeks later, Hurricane Sandy flooded my house and my children and I were forced to leave our home. While we were gone, burglars broke into our flooded home and stole prized possessions, which left me feeling angry and broken. On March 9, 2013, a friend introduced me to an amazing man who won me over with his gentle, calm demeanor, understanding words and his angelic smile. He reminded me to focus on all that I have instead of all that was lost. I was able to re-channel my thoughts to cope with all that had happened to move forward. In refocusing and re-channeling my energy from the negative to positive, I started writing poetry of my life experiences and was then able to see the beauty of my life. Kevin and I were married on August 9, 2016 and I am continually inspired by my new focus of reflection, empowerment and growth in the beauty of art by embracing my possibilities. Once I allowed myself to surrender to the universe, I was able to live my Truth and move ahead towards life's blessings. Thanks Kevin. I love you.
